Heather (my neice and the webmaster) and her husband Jason arrived from Chicago in
the late afternoon. They decided to drive since it was only a 12 hour drive and
while they were here we could have wheels. Heather had always joked with us that,
in spite of all the wonderful things she has done for us and.... in spite of her
dynamic personality, we nevertheless, chose to name our boat after Amanda... her
sister. So Larry and I had a banner made that read Heather Leigh... and taped it
over the lettering on Amanda Jayne. Needless to say, she was quite shocked and
amused when she saw it. We kidded her all weekend that she finally had a boat
named after her and she was content (at least for a while). We took them to our
favorite restaurant, Redfish, and introduced them to our favorite bartender,
Chris. We had a great time visiting and talking and eating our fill of 1/2 price
appetizers. When we got back to the boat, we cajoled Larry into playing a few
board games (something he is not keen on doing) and a great time was had by all.

Frankie was not feeling well so Larry and I borrowed the vehicle and took her to
the vet. We got her all fixed up and we felt a lot better about that. We went to
Redfish... again because I had to have Heather eat their marvelous crabcakes.
Since Jason is famous for making great margaritas, we thought we would do Mexican
on the boat for dinner. We went to the store and got all the fixings. Now it is
time to relax!! We spent the rest of the day relaxing... laying around in the
cockpit, reading, talking, discussing Katrina and just being boat people. Heather
decided she could be a boat person pretty easily with little or no training. I
cooked tacos and enchiladas using the recipe Margie gave me. Everything turned out
great.

Heather and Jason went to Washington D.C. today to be tourists. Larry and I
thought we would stay home since we had both been there. Dorothy and Gary, our
friends from Gigolo... the boat down the dock... came over and we all went for a
bike ride to the Inner harbor. The weather was beautiful and just too good to
waste sitting on the boat. We had lunch and walked around looking at the sights.
H & J got home about 7 PM and we went to dinner at Ray Lewis's Bar-be-que House.
It was OK non-Texas Bar-be-que... but passable.
Sunday September 4, 2005
H & J had initally wanted to do 2 days in D.C. but saw that walking all day was
quite tiresome. So they voted to stay home with us. We went sailing in the morning
and then sat around, read and played games in the cockpit until dinner. Larry
cooked ribeyes on the grill and... once again... we pigged out!!
Monday September 5, 2005
We decided to take a cab into Inner Harbor. I had hit my toe on a cleat while
docking yesterday so I was not walking too smooth. We saw the sights, ate a Power
Dog and bought a few more books at the bookstore. Heather and Jason left at about
7 PM. We really enjoyed their visit and I felt sad to see them go. Larry said it
is always a sign of good guests when you are sad to see them leave. I hope this is
not the last time we get to visit. I am hoping the next time, they will bring my
sister with them. We went to farewell dinner with Dorothy and Gary. They are
leaving Tuesday morning to head back to their new home. We really enjoyed meeting
them and feel like they were our first "friends" that we really made on this trip.
We plan to keep in touch and maybe met up again in the future.
Sunday September 10, 2005
Since our visitors left, Larry and I have just been hanging out. Larry does 1 or 2
boat projects every morning and then we spend the rest of the day doing whatever
we feel like. We met a guy on the dock that drives one of those Duck Tour buses.
You know, the buses that drive on the street, then go in the water? So after
getting to know him, he offered us free tickets to take a Duck Tour. We went on it
today and it was a real treat. We learned lots of information and neat tidbits
about Baltimore that we did not know and new places to check out. We are ready to
get out of here, but there is still too much activity in the Atlantic.
