Today the girls and I flew to Florida. The dogs handled the flight really well. It
was long and tiring, with 4 stops and custom checks. I arrived in Florida at 9PM.
Larry left Grenada at about 11 AM after getting fuel and cleaning the bottom one
last time so Amanda Jayne can go as fast as possible.
Saturday June 3, 2006
I am in Chicago and Larry is in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He made the first leg, about 400
miles in 61 hours. They were able to sail for quite a bit of the way and Larry said
they rode a current which enabled them to average 7.5 kts. He went 460 miles in 61
hours. He was very pleased with their progress and planned to stay 2 nights in Ponce
and head out again.
Tuesday June 6, 2006
Larry and crew left Ponce at 9 AM and at 1 PM Larry called me and said they were 3
hours short of being through the Mona Passage. They had been averaging 8.5 kts! God
must have known what a big hurry these guys were in and gave them a little nudge. He
said the seas were a little rougher, so no hot meals, but nothing they could not
handle. I have been able to talk to Larry about 2 times a day and he seems upbeat
and eager to get the boat back. My sister and I are enjoying our visit. My niece,
the webmaster, and her husband came to visit and I love seeing them. They are
pregnant with their first child and it is very exciting for all. I was able to visit
with my nephew, Adam, who I have not seen in a while, and that has been a joy for me
as well. Being with family is one of the things I missed the most while being gone
and I am really relishing it now that I am here.

Larry and the guys are in Rum Cay. They made another 593 miles in 79 hours. They had
some trouble getting fuel but will leave in a few days for Canaveral, Florida... the
last leg of the trip. The crew is tired and anxious to be home. Amanda Jayne has
held up well and Larry is pleased with their progress.
Monday June 12, 2006
Left for Florida and went 438 more miles. Made it to Florida in 55 hours. Total trip
back to the states was 1,490 miles. Amanda Jayne held up fineand so did the crew.
Larry is having the boat pulled for a bottom job and badly needing cleaning.
Tuesday June 27, 2006
Mait, Larry's friend from Houston flew to Florida to help him crew the boat up to
Baltimore. I am still in Chicago getting dental work, doctors visits and vet visits
taken care of. Larry and Mait left and went offshore.
Thursday June 29, 2006
Larry and Mait made in into Beaufort, NC in 54 hours. They went 441 miles with no
problems or bad weather. They are going to stay in the Intercoastal the rest of the
way to Baltimore.
